| End-of-Term Assembly |
 |
And
so another term comes to an end. It has been a long and
sometimes difficult one.
The building of the Junior block extension affected many
lessons during the first weeks, but both the students and staff
coped admirably. We now have some really pleasant new classrooms
to use - bright, airy and air-conditioned!
As ever the students of the ISS have worked incredibly hard
all term, especially the Year 11 students who face mock exams as
soon as they come back in January - Good Luck!
To celebrate the achievements of some of the students, and as
a fun end to the term, the Secondary and Sixth Form students
attended an end-of-term assembly...

| Prom 2005 |
 |
The
evening of Friday December 9th saw students from Years 10, 11,
12 and 13 donning their most glamorous outfits and attending the
2005 ISS Prom.
The theme this year was 'Hollywood' and the fantastic
decorating efforts of the organising committee meant that our
normally plain school hall had been transformed with all the
glitz, sparkle and glamour of a Hollywood film premier night.

| The Elephant's Child |
 |
The
Early Childhood show was on 1st and 2nd of December 2005.
This year our Christmas story was based on a 'Just So' story, 'The
Elephant’s Child', which told the story of how the elephant got his
trunk- with a little help from the crocodile!

| The Golden Tapestry is Finished! |
 |
After
months of planning, designing, stitching, unpicking and more
stitching, it's finally ready to be sent off - the Seychelles
section of the Golden Tapestry is complete, and it looks great!
Junior and Secondary students have worked after school to get
the 1 metre square panel ready to be sent off to join the other
600 panels being made by other schools around the world.

| Year 9 Say Farewell |
 |
|
Very sadly Year 9 said goodbye to seven students who are
leaving the ISS at the end of this term. All of them are sure to
be missed.
So
that everyone had a last chance to get together with their
friends, Mrs Dooley, the Year 9 tutor, organised a great party
on Beau Vallon beach. Games were played, people were splashed
and huge quantities of food were consumed!
So, 'farewell' to...
- Sumair
- Baksh
- Saptarshi
- Mona
- Zoe
- Mark
- Benjamin
A message from Year 9 to their departing friends...
"How can we say goodbye to seven good
friends? The year nine students are extremely sad to be parting
with these students. We wish you a fantastic future and we hope
you will have fun in your new schools. Please keep in contact
with us and thank you very much for being amazing friends. You
have become part of lives, and parting from you is extremely
difficult for us.
Once again we hope you have a prosperous
future. We will miss you! God bless all of you!"

| Sixth Form Drama Workshops |
 |
The
first term in the Sixth Form is always demanding the Year 12
settling into the course and the Year 13 stressed with November
examinations as well as applying for university. BUT luckily for
us, on top of all that, we also had time for...ACTING UP...
OUT AND SHAKING IT ALL ABOUT!
Two afternoons of resounding laughter, hilarious notions,
childish passions and pure entertainment Penny Freeman’s
workshops were out of the ordinary!! Cast off any expectations
of serious uptight guidelines to acting - Penny delivered her
advice in subtle undertones through interactive games. Unusual,
yes, but definitely a lasting effect on all those who took part.

| The DCDM Business School in
Mauritius |
 |
|
Preparing for university? Check out the DCDM Business School in
Mauritius
As
part of the Career sessions in Year 12 we were privileged to
have a representative from the DCDM Business School in Mauritius
deliver a presentation on the courses they offer.
The presentation was really mind opening! Ms Santokhee was
very helpful in letting us realise that freedom, studies and the
milestone of our youth does not have to be, as previously
believed, over seven hours by plane away from friends and
family!
During the presentation we got to find out about the sixty
plus courses they offer in collaboration with Curtin University
in Australia, ranging from Graphics, to Accounting to
Journalism, as well as the Business courses. There were also
opportunities for part time courses and scholarships.

presented with their IGCSE and AS / A level certificates in a

better. These outcomes are superior to both average
international, and UK figures. (Source CIE and TES)

school’s Sixth Form programme.

Level and a further two grade A passes at AS level, giving her a
